Clara
and Dave Heyl became involved in the candy business
when their son Jim was in Cub Scouts. The Cub Pack
needed to earn some money for expenses and they
heard Moore's was very cooperative in helping groups
earn money. They were also told of the quality of
Moore's chocolates. The Heyls started working with
Moore's in fundraising in 1957 and eventually bought
the business in 1964. (By the way, Jim earned the
Eagle rank in Boy Scouts.)
In 1981, Jim and his late wife, Lois, bought the
family business to continue the tradition. Their
son, Dana, joined the company in 1993, making three
generations.
The company also supplies a number of gift shops
and specialty stores with their products. Weddings,
special events, and Bar Mitzvahs are specialties
for Moore's.
Through personal attention Moore's can control the
quality and consistency of its products for you,
the customer.
Throughout the community and beyond, Moore's is
known for its quality. Moore's has received both
local and national awards for its products. In January
1993, the Los Angeles Times recognized Moore's as
"America's Best."
Moore's has created a complete confection line of
Maryland theme products including miniature crabs,
oysters, fish, jumbo crabs, and honey-caramel popcorn.
Come and visit Moore's and see its fine products
